About the Artist
Ray Dugan was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario,
Canada and educated at Victoria College, University of Toronto and Yale
University, New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A.
His career as a University Professor was mainly at the
University of Waterloo. Ray and his wife Sylvia raised two sons who
died tragically in 1993.
Ray's passionate interest in history, art and
language, as well as his need for bereavement threapy led him to
embroider a full reproduction of the Bayeux Tapestry. His
stunning recreation in linen and wool was 11 years in the making, and
allows the public to view a precious historical document which many
have called "the first comic strip."
